- Prepare headings and button labels in a consistent style.
- Lowercase email addresses, tags or keywords before comparing them.
- Create UPPERCASE labels, codes or headers for documents and slides.
What each mode does, and its limits
Sentence case first lowercases everything, then capitalizes the first letter of the text, the first letter of each line, and the first letter after “.”, “!”, “?” or “…” followed by a space. It cannot recognize names, places or acronyms, so “Paris”, “NASA” or “iPhone” become lowercase and need a quick manual fix.
Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word and lowercases the rest. It does not apply style-guide exceptions for short words such as “of”, “the” or “and”, because AP, Chicago and APA disagree on those rules. Apostrophes stay inside the word (“don’t” becomes “Don’t”), and letters that follow a digit are left alone, so “3rd” stays “3rd”.
Conversion uses the case rules of the page language. Some letters change length: the German “ß” becomes “SS” in uppercase, so the result can be longer than the input. Converting back to lowercase gives “ss”, not “ß”.
Frequently asked questions
Why are small words like “of” and “the” capitalized in Title Case?
The tool capitalizes every word so the result is predictable. If your style guide keeps short words lowercase, change them by hand after converting.
Will Sentence case keep my acronyms?
No. Everything is lowercased before sentences are capitalized, so acronyms and brand names must be corrected manually.
Does it work with accented letters?
Yes. Letters such as é, ñ, ü, ø and Vietnamese letters like ơ and đ are converted between upper and lower case correctly.
Are line breaks preserved?
Yes. Only letter case changes; spacing and line breaks stay as they were.
